Algae offer hope as a material for making, as a super food, and as ways to rebalance marine ecosystems.
In this workshop we invite you to join the Department of Seaweed and delve into the tangle, exploring seaweed futures through hands-on experiments and communal reflection. We will share a range of techniques for working with algae in art, craft and design and produce objects and accessories together. During that process, we will talk about bio-materials and their ethics, ocean literacy and regenerative design.
We welcome everyone to the diverse work with algae and discussions about these special creatures, which most likely themselves will show us the best ways to deal with them.
The workshop was led by Julia Lohmann & Violaine Buet
